Janice is a state-licensed and national certified speech-language pathologist practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her Bachelor's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the Univeristy of Minnesota - Twin Cities and her Master's degree in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University (ASU). Janice also holds a Certificate in Communication Disorders in Multilingual/Multicultural Populations from ASU. She is passionate about helping children connect with others through communication. She believes that communication skills are built upon genuine, authentic relationships and connections, and has moved from a compliance-based therapy model to a child-led, play-based therapy model.
Her passions in the speech pathology world include early intervention, helping "late talkers", bilingual speech and therapy, gestalt language processing, neuro-affirming practice, and childhood apraxia of speech, etc. As a first-generation immigrant, Janice cherishes the opportunity to give back and connect with the community. She strives to be culturally and linguistically responsive as she supports Chinese speaking families in the Bay Area.
In her spare time, Janice enjoys many fun adventures, such as hiking, rock climbing and skiing. She also loves spending time at home with her husband and her dog, Minty.
"I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship." - Brené Brown
